DBS's 3Q Interest Margin Likely More Resilient Than OCBC -- Market Talk
Dow Jones10-31
0359 GMT - DBS's 3Q net interest margin should be more resilient than OCBC's as it is better at portfolio hedging, says Lorraine Tan, director of equity research (Asia) at Morningstar, in an email. DBS also has a larger exposure in Hong Kong, where interest rates rebounded during the quarter. The Singapore banks' growth over the next few years is likely to be driven by how well they manage their costs and loan book, Tan says. This could lead to NIMs declining at a more gradual pace, alongside the wealth management segment's expansion. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
