Fresh Del Monte Produce swung to a third-quarter loss as it incurred charges related to its decision to pull back from some of its banana farms in the Philippines.

The fruit and vegetable company reported a loss of $29.1 million, or 61 cents a share, down from a profit of $42.1 million, or 88 cents a share, the year prior.

Adjusted net income was $33.1 million.

The company reported sales of $1.02 billion, even with last year, and said that its sales were boosted by higher per-unit selling prices in its banana segment partially as a result of tariff-related price hikes.

The company said it decided to exit underperforming banana operations in the Philippines and divest its Mann Packing business operations, with the transaction expected to close in the fourth quarter.
