Tesla (TSLA) was sued in Wisconsin state court over a November 2024 crash that killed all five people in a Model S after its doors allegedly failed to open, trapping the occupants inside a burning vehicle, Bloomberg reported Monday.
The lawsuit, filed by the children of Jeffrey Bauer and Michelle Bauer, claims the couple survived the initial impact after their car hit a tree, but died when the car caught fire and the doors allegedly wouldn't open, the report said.
The complaint accused Tesla of negligence, citing the EV maker was aware of door-handle malfunctions and post-collision fire hazards, according to Bloomberg.
Tesla did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
