Unilever's U.S. Portfolio Pivot Might Boost Growth -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-07

0914 GMT - Unilever's U.S. portfolio pivot has been underestimated and its business in the country might lead on volume growth, analysts at Barclays write in a note. The consumer-goods conglomerate has strong momentum in the country, as it shifts its focus, the analysts say. Unilever is shedding its ice-cream business and focusing on its personal care and beauty portfolios. Overall, Unilever is on track to becoming a higher growth and higher margin company, the analysts say. Even though Europe is tricky for consumer-product companies right now, its competitive position is strong, they say. Shares are down 0.7% at 45.62 pounds. (aimee.look@wsj.com)
