Ahold Delhaize's Strong Beat to Results Was Driven by One-Offs -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-05

0945 GMT - Ahold Delhaize's outperformance is expected to be short-lived given that one-offs drove beats to estimates, ING Global Markets Research analyst Maxime Stranart says in a research note. The Dutch grocer posted a beat on third-quarter profitability, driven mainly by nonrecurring items reported in its U.S. division, Stranart says. This, in turn, increased the group's underlying operating profit margin by around 20 basis points, the analyst adds. The company reiterated its full-year guidance, including adjusted EPS growing by a mid-to-high-single digit percentage. This looks more difficult to achieve considering the continuing foreign-exchange headwinds, Stranart says. Shares trade 1.7% higher at 36.27 euros. (nina.kienle@wsj.com)
