Algonquin Power & Utilities 3Q Profit Rises, Appoints Robert Stefani CFO

Algonquin Power & Utilities reported higher profit in the third quarter and said it appointed Robert Stefani as its chief financial officer.

The Canadian regulated utility-services company on Friday posted net income of $73.7 million, up from $49.5 million in the comparable quarter a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings were 9 cents a share. According to FactSet, analysts were expecting 6 cents a share.

The Oakville, Ontario, company also said it has appointed Stefani to the role of CFO, effective Jan. 5. He joins from U.S.-based energy company Southwest Gas where he served as CFO for the past three years. Prior to that, Stefani served for four years as CFO and treasurer to a subsidiary of Exelon, PECO Energy.
