Honda Motor (HMC) and Nissan Motor are in talks to deepen their partnership to include development of products and powertrains in the US, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing Nissan's Chief Executive Officer Ivan Espinosa.
"We are talking about how we can collaborate in the US," Espinosa said in an interview in Japan, according to the report. "We are open to anything."
He said both companies have "very good coverage" in the US in terms of manufacturing, supply network, and engineering capabilities, the report said.
Honda and Nissan ended merger talks in February but agreed to collaborate on vehicle intelligence and electrified vehicles.
Nissan declined to comment, while Honda did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
