BHP (UK:BHP, BHP): The miner was found liable by an English court for a deadly dam failure in Brazil 10 years ago. BHP plans to appeal the decision. Shares dropped 3% in London.

Alibaba (HK:9988, BABA): Shares in China's biggest cloud-computing company skidded in a grim day for Hong Kong-listed technology stocks. Alibaba ramped up its artificial-intelligence strategy with the launch of an AI-powered search tool for wholesale buyers.

JBS $(JBS)$: The New York-listed Brazilian meatpacker posted stronger-than-projected quarterly results, with robust beef sales in the U.S. President Trump has accused meatpacking companies of colluding to boost beef prices.

Richemont (CH:CFR): The Cartier owner's sales growth accelerated, propelled by the Swiss luxury company's jewelry division. Shares rallied around 3.5%.
