Ballard Power Systems logged a narrowed loss in the third quarter thanks to its heavy-duty mobility segment driving revenue higher.
The Canadian hydrogen fuel cell technology company on Thursday reported a narrowed loss from continuing operations of $28.1 million, or 9 cents a share, compared with a loss of $204.5 million, or 68 cents a share, in the comparable quarter a year ago.
According to FactSet, analysts were expecting a loss of 11 cents a share.
Total revenue more than doubled, reaching $32.5 million $14.8 million, topping analyst expectations of a rise to $24.7 million.
Among the bigger contributors to revenue was its heavy-duty mobility segment, particularly rail, which saw an increase to $7.4 million from $1.2 million.
Emerging markets also had a strong quarter, with revenue rising to $5.3 million from $1.4 million.
