U.S. Stocks Fall Again Amid Worries Over AI, Economic Activity -- Market Talk

1611 ET - U.S. stock indexes extend recent losses amid growing concerns around AI-related valuations and economic activity. Home Depot falls 6% as it misses earnings estimates and reduces its sales outlook saying an expected increase in demand in 3Q didn't materialize. The Consumer Discretionary sector leads the S&P 500 decline, falling 3%. Nvidia and Microsoft each fall nearly 3% after unveiling a partnership with AI start-up Anthropic. Delayed official data show an increase in jobless claims in mid-October, with more data to come Thursday. Nasdaq closes at 22433, the S&P 500 at 6617 and the DJIA at 46092, each down around 1%.
