Contact Energy's Retail Mass Market Electricity Sales, Gas Sales Rise in October

Contact Energy (NZE:CEN, ASX:CEN) said retail mass market electricity sales and gas sales both grew year over year in October, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.

Retail mass market electricity sales rose to 278 gigawatt hours (GWh) in October from 276 GWh in the same period in the previous year.

Retail gas sales rose to 107 GWh from 44 GWh. Wholesale contracted electricity sales increased to 997 GWh from 699 GWh in the prior-year period.

Wholesale electricity sales to customer businesses grew to 295 GWh from 291 GWh, while sales to commercial and industrial customers were up to 203 GWh from 132 GWh.

Wholesale spot electricity sales also rose to 902 GWh from 694 GWh.

The company's New Zealand shares were down almost 1% in recent Tuesday trade.
