Media-analytics company Kantar Media said it named former WPP Chief Executive Mark Read as chairman of a newly formed board of directors after its recent acquisition by private-equity group H.I.G. Capital.
Read stepped down as CEO of the U.K. advertising group on Sept. 1, ending a decadeslong career at the company. Before his appointment as WPP CEO in 2018, he led strategy for the group and was CEO of digital agency Wunderman.
Kantar Media said Read's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the company. He will chair a newly formed board that is the company's first fully independent, it added.
Market-research firm Kantar Group, which is majority owned by Bain Capital, in August closed the sale of its media measurement and analytics arm Kantar Media to H.I.G. Capital for about $1 billion.
