Mining Stocks Lead FTSE 100 Risers in Opening Trade -- Market Talk
Dow Jones11-26
0823 GMT - London's mining stocks rise in opening trade with precious-metal miners leading the FTSE 100 index. Soft U.S. economic data has reinforced expectations that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates in December, Hargreaves Lansdown's Matt Britzman writes. Endeavour Mining leads the way, rising 3.7% with silver and gold miner Fresnillo up 3.4%. Higher interest rates weigh on non-yielding assets like gold. Valterra Platinum rises 2.7%, while copper miner Antofagasta ticks up 1.6%. Glencore, Rio Tinto and Anglo American are all up around 0.9%. (adam.whittaker@wsj.com)
