simultaneously rolling out a high-powered moving loop electromagnetic (MLEM) survey across the promising Panhandle komatiite system to turn up further massive sulphide targets near its monster nickel resource.The deep diamond hole falls under the WA government’s exploration incentive scheme (EIS) and is being part-funded under the company’s suite of grants that total $620,000 across three separate awards.It is a diamond tail from the original Phase 1 reverse circulation pre-collar for hole 9, which bottomed out at 522m still in disseminated nickel mineralisation.Western Mines says the diamond portion is already past 900m down-hole and closing in on a compelling pronounced 3D magnetic high that sits directly atop a strong conductive anomaly, perfectly positioned in a fold-hinge setting along the nickel bearing contact of its main Mulga Tank ultramafic complex.The new hole slots neatly between earlier intersections that logged high-grade sulphide segregations - to the west and to the east – and is deliberately aimed at testing another section of the active basal contact zone for a possible high-grade keel to its disseminated deposit.The key target sequence is anticipated between about 1100m and 1300m down-hole and should be intercepted sometime next week.The company’s Geophysical crew also hit site this week and has kicked off a low-frequency, high-powered MLEM survey designed to extend coverage over the 1.5km-long mineralised komatiite body in the Panhandle for further high-grade targetsWestern Mines says the program should wrap up in under two weeks with any fresh bedrock conductor plates to feed directly into seven EIS co-funded RC and diamond holes locked and loaded for early 2026.Management is also pushing to slot in up to nine additional shallow RC holes inside the main body before the Christmas break, provided a second rig can be brought on board.Successive campaigns at Mulga Tank have now traced its active basal contact over more than 2km, with multiple intersections of semi-massive and disseminated nickel sulphides pointing squarely to a large, fertile komatiite-hosted system.Deposits of this style have delivered some of the biggest nickel camps in Australia and include the more than 50 million tonne Perseverance mine that graded between 2-3 per cent nickel and the Kambalda nickel camp that was made up of over 50 individual komatiite-hosted massive sulphide orebodies.The EIS hole targets a coincident magnetic high feature and conductive MobileMT anomaly sitting in a hinge position at the base of the western margin of the Complex. This will further test the active basal zone of the Complex, searching for a sulphide enriched keel. Western Mines Group managing director Dr Caedmon MarriottWestern Mines has methodically grown a monster resource inventory at Mulga Tank that already stands out on the global stage.The project now hosts an impressive contained metal inventory of 5.3 million tonnes of nickel, together with 257,000 tonnes of cobalt, 161,000 tonnes of copper and 1.1 million ounces of platinum and palladium.Drilling to date has delivered 25 intersections exceeding 1 per cent nickel across a tight 2-square-kilometre core area inside the main ultramafic body, with the bulk of the higher-grade material sitting within the top 300 vertical metres.The company says its project shares similarities with BHP’s Mount Keith-style disseminated sulphide system, providing large-scale potential upside, particularly if massive sulphides were to be discovered.With a string of EIS co-funding locked in and a steady drumbeat of drilling throughout the new year, Mulga Tank retains a solid chance of graduating into one of the major compelling undeveloped komatiite nickel systems of WA history past.Is your ASX-listed company doing something interesting?
