Alimentation Couche-Tard Sees Uneven Same-Store Sales Performance Across U.S. -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-25

1042 ET - Couche-Tard's U.S. merchandise sales were mixed in F2Q, with some regions performing better than others. U.S. merchandise same-store sales growth was 1.2%, up from 0.4% last quarter. On an earnings call, CEO Alex Miller says the company continues to see "pretty big variations across the U.S.," noting that the Midwest business unit, which is Iowa, Illinois and Indiana, saw same-store sales up 5.3% and same-store volume up 2.3%. However, these were offset by challenges along its southern states and the Midwest, especially in Texas and Arizona that together represent 23% of its merchandise sales. These, he says, came in slightly negative in the quarter. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
