BUZZ-UK homebuilders index slides; OBR flags higher inflation, new luxury home tax

** British homebuilders index .FTNMX402020 down nearly 4%, on track for worst day since July

** British consumer price inflation is set to average 2.5% in 2026, according to data by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) ahead of finance minister Rachel Reeves' budget statement.

** Britain announced a new annual tax on homes worth more than 2 million pounds ($2.63 million) according to estimates from OBR.

** Homebuilder Berkeley Group BKGH.L down 3.5% leading losses on FTSE 100 .FTSE, index peers Persimmon PSN.L down 3.3% and Barratt Redrow BTRW.L down 2%

** Bellway BWY.L down nearly 3%, among top losers on the FTSE mid cap index .FTMC, Vistry VTYV.L down 2.3%, Taylor Wimpey TW.L down 2.5%

** Sub-index .FTNMX402020 down nearly 5% YTD
