SAO PAULO, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Whirlpool SA WHRL4.SA, the Brazilian unit of Whirlpool Corp WHR.N, said on Wednesday that the company will cease production in Argentina, where it has a manufacturing unit located in Pilar.
Whirlpool SA owns home appliance brands Brastemp and Consul.
The company said the decision reflects "strategic guidelines of operational efficiency and responsible source allocation."
The move does not affect import, commercialization and distribution activities in Argentina, it added in a securities filing.
Whirlpool had announced last year a 550 million-real ($102.31 million) investment to expand and modernize its Rio Claro and Joinville plants in Brazil.
