BJ's Seen Benefiting as Consumers Look for Value -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-25

1437 ET - BJ's remains well-positioned to benefit from broader secular trends as consumers gravitate to club channels hunting for value, even as sales have shown some fluctuation, UBS analysts say in a note. BJ's membership remains in demand and is growing at a healthy rate at its new and existing clubs, with a line of sight to a 90% renewal rate for the year, the analysts say. That should help to calm fears that Costco's recent pullback indicates a broader theme in the club channel, they say. "We note that current economic choppiness doesn't seem to be impacting the value customers are finding in the club's membership," they say, noting BJ's grew membership across all income cohorts in its latest quarter.(kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
