Ross Stores' Drives Traffic With Marketing, New Stores -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-25

1205 ET - Ross Stores' strong quarter is the result of new leadership, aggressive marketing and new store outperformance, Jefferies analysts say. The company is gaining more traffic, rather than increasing prices. The traffic trends position Ross to continue to record strong financials through the holidays, the analysts say. Under a new chief executive, the off-price retailer has refreshed its marketing to be geared toward value-focused customers, which is boosting brand engagement and reinforcing Ross's value proposition, the analysts say. New store openings are also exceeding expectations, they say. The company's Brooklyn store is a standout, showing Ross's ability to expand more in the Northeast, they say.
