Cattle Closes Limit-Down After Tyson News -- Market Talk

Dow Jones11-25

1526 ET - Live cattle futures finish limit-down by 7.25 cents a pound, or 3.4%, to $2.07525 a pound. News of Tyson Foods' closure of its plant in Lexington, Neb. along with downsizing shifts in Amarillo, Tx. put pressure on cattle futures. Traders may be having a late reaction to the delayed CFTC Commitment of Traders data coming out at an accelerated schedule for the rest of the year, says Karl Setzer of Consus Ag Consulting in a note. "Funds have added positions according to delayed data and we are seeing these flushed out," says Setzer. Lean hog futures close up 1.9% to 79.175 cents a pound. (kirk.maltais@wsj.com)
