Unilever's (UL) Magnum Ice Cream unit has found deficiencies in financial controls and governance in an audit of Ben & Jerry's Foundation, a company spokesperson said in a statement e-mailed to MT Newswires Wednesday.

The audit of the independent, charitable organization also highlighted deficiencies in other compliance policies, including conflicts of interest, the spokesperson said.

Magnum has shared the audit findings with the trustees and plans to collaborate on adopting enhanced governance policies, including a code of ethics, according to the spokesperson.

"So far, the trustees have not fully addressed the deficiencies identified," the spokesperson said.

Ben & Jerry's Foundation didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
