POLITICS

Strikes and protests in Italy on Friday against Giorgia Meloni's government caused the cancellation of dozens of flights and disrupted train services around the country.

ECONOMY

Italy's economy posted marginal growth of 0.1% in the third quarter from the previous three months thanks mainly to exports, national statistics bureau ISTAT said on Friday, revising up a previous printout that pointed to stagnation.

COMPANIES

STELLANTIS STLAM.MI

Stellantis' head of Europe Emanuele Cappellano on Saturday welcomed a move by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz who wrote to Brussels on Friday to urge the European Commission to ease a planned ban on new combustion-engine cars from 2035. "We welcome all measures that are supportive of a rapid and sustainable return to growth of the European automotive industry," Cappellano said.

(*) Production at Stellantis' French factories is set to drop over the next three years, the Financial Times reported on Monday. The number of units being produced at the company's five assembly factories in France is predicted to fall by 11% between 2025 and 2028, the report said, citing trade union estimates based on company presentations.

BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA BMPS.MI, MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI

Italy's economy ministry on Saturday said it had acted properly in placing shares in bailed-out bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena with two key investors who are now at the centre of an investigation by Milan prosecutors.

Opposition parties, headed by the Democratic Party, called on the Italian economy minister to refer to Parliament over the takeover and the investigations and on Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to provide clarifications, several papers reported on Sunday.

Extraordinary general shareholders' meeting on proposed amendments to Article 3 and Article 31 of the company’s bylaws to shift the end of its financial year to December 31 from June 30.

The Italian engineering group said it would start on Monday a share buyback for up to 3% of its capital, as it continues to pursue arbitration proceedings under which it seeks more than 700 million euros in damages from EuroChem. It also reserved the right to quantify and file for further damages as EuroChem fails to comply with UK court's decision.

LEONARDO LDOF.MI

A meeting between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at a summit in Bahrain later this week could be key in securing a final government approval for an investment by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund in Leonardo's aerostructures unit, after months of negotiations, Bloomberg reported on Friday.

Juventus claimed a 2-1 win over Cagliari after a Kenan Yildiz double turned the match on its head and stopped the hosts slipping further behind the Serie A pacesetters on Saturday.

LAZIO LAZI.MI

AC Milan secured a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Lazio thanks to Rafael Leao's goal early in the second-half to provisionally take over at the top of Serie A on Saturday.

AEFFE AEF.MI

The board of the group decided on Friday that it intends to request the voluntary exclusion from the Euronext STAR segment on the Milan market.

KALEON KLN.MI

The manager of the Borromeo family's tourist and artistic assets, including the renowned islands on Lake Maggiore, makes its stock market debut in Milan and Paris; listing ceremony scheduled for 0730 GMT.

LUXURY SECTOR

PRADA 1913.F, 1913.HK

Chief Executive Andrea Guerra said on Friday the Italian luxury group has no further acquisitions in the pipeline after the takeover of Versace, which is expected to be completed on Tuesday.

ARMANI

The luxury group said on Friday it had appointed a new eight-member board, keeping three seats for representatives of the family and bringing in veteran industry executives Marco Bizzarri and John Hooks, and Milanese businessman Angelo Moratti.
