1525 ET - Kimberly-Clark is bucking the trend of increased promotions amid a tough consumer environment and softer category performance globally the past few weeks, CEO Michael Hsu says at the Morgan Stanley Global Consumer and Retail Conference. Rather, he says, the company is looking to innovate and have a better value proposition at every price point. "I will tell you that promotion is not a growth driver for us," Hsu says. "We seek promotion purely as a trial driver on the innovation that we want to get into consumers' hands." As a result, CFO Nelson Urdaneta says, Kimberly-Clark's growth for the quarter is expected to be closer to the average growth of the categories globally, around 2%. (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
