SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings (TYO:9412) said its multichannel pay TV unit, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, recorded a net fall in subscribers for November, as churn exceeded new sign-ups in satellite-based services, while optical fiber retransmission continued to grow, according to a Tuesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Total subscribers to the SKY PerfecTV! platform, measured by active IC cards or chips, reached 2.46 million as of end-November, down 16,337 on the month.
The core SKY PerfecTV! logged an 11,052 net drop, while the Premium segment declined 5,285.
Monthly churn rates stood at 2.2% for total SKY PerfecTV!, 2.6% for the main platform and 1% for Premium.
The number of individual contractors, counting each household or entity once regardless of multiple plans, stood at 1.9 million, also lower on the month by 16,791.
In contrast, the optical fiber-based retransmission service reported a 7,946 net gain, taking subscribing households to 2.9 million, at a churn rate of 0.4%.
