Fed Meeting, Broadcom Earnings: What to Watch Next Week -- WSJ

The Federal Reserve will finish its last meeting of 2025 this coming week, and investors are expecting a quarter-point interest rate cut that would bring the benchmark range to 3.5% to 3.75%. A few notable earnings updates are also expected before the holiday season takes over. Tech titans Broadcom, Oracle and Adobe are due to report next week, as is retailer Costco. Here's what to expect:

Monday Dec. 8

Earnings: Toll Brothers

Tuesday Dec. 9

Economic data: October Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS). Also, November's small business index from the National Federation of Independent Business.

Earnings: Campbell's, AutoZone, GameStop

Treasury auction: 10-year notes

Wednesday Dec. 10

Fed Meeting: The Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates by 0.25 percentage point after its meeting wraps up at 2 p.m. ET. New economic projections will also be released; a press conference with Chair Jerome Powell follows.

Economic data: Employment cost index for the third quarter, monthly federal data on deficits/surpluses

Earnings: Oracle, Adobe, Synopsys, Vail Resorts

Other central banks: Bank of Canada interest-rate announcement

Thursday Dec. 11

Earnings: Broadcom, Costco, Ciena, Lululemon

Economic data: Jobless claims, U.S. import/export data

Treasury auction: 30-year bond
