Shares in Magnum Ice Cream opened slightly higher on the company's Euronext Amsterdam debut, with the Unilever spinoff looking to lure new investors in the snacking category.

Magnum Ice Cream began trading at 12.89 euros a share early Monday, up 0.7%. It has secondary listings in London and New York.

The ice-cream business is targeting investors in the snacking industry beyond the broader consumer staples segment, Chief Executive Peter ter Kulve said in an interview Friday. The investor base was expected upon launch to still largely overlap with Unilever's.

"We have especially been looking at who is big into snacking and refreshment--Coke, Pepsi, Mondelez--who is not in Unilever," ter Kulve said.
