US Cash Grains-Corn and soy processor basis steady, elevator bids mixed

CHICAGO, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly steady at U.S. Midwest processing plants on Friday and mixed at elevator locations as sinking prices dampened farmer selling interest.

  • Benchmark Chicago Board of Trade corn futures Cv1 were lower on Friday and were on pace for their first weekly decline in four weeks. Soybeans Sv1 fell to a four-week low and were poised for the first weekly drop since early October.

  • The lower prices have limited farmer sales. Meanwhile, frigid weather and icy roads slowed grain movement in the northern Midwest this week.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture is due to release export sales data on Monday for the week ended November 6. Analysts surveyed by Reuters expect net corn sales for that week between 1 million and 2 million metric tons and soybean sales between 450,000 and 1.6 million tons.

  • CBOT March corn futures CH26 were 2-1/2 cents lower near the close on Friday at $4.44-3/4 a bushel and January soybeans SF26 were down 13-1/4 cents at $11.06-1/4 a bushel. GRA/
