(Updates with USPS' response in the fourth paragraph.)
Amazon.com (AMZN) is considering cutting its ties with the US Postal Service and building its own delivery system, the Washington Post reported Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
Amazon is the government agency's top customer, providing more than $6 billion or 7.5% of the agency's revenue this year, the report said.
Amazon has been in inconclusive talks with the postal agency over rates and delivery times and is preparing to seek alternatives, the report said.
The US Postal Service declined to comment. Amazon did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
