Bank of Montreal Logs Solid Quarter, Though Some Unease Remains -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-06 05:03

1603 ET - Bank of Montreal's 4Q performance was solid, marked by continued improvement in credit and net interest margin and above-expectation adjusted EPS, Raymond James' Stephen Boland says. Yet the analyst remains cautious on the growth outlook for the bank in the U.S., where market conditions are challenging efforts to extract synergies from the takeover of Bank of the West. And with the shares trading near a historical peak 13.1 times expected FY26 earnings, he says the valuation appears fair. Raymond James retains a market perform stance, and its target price rises C$1 to C$183. ( robb.stewart@wsj.com )
