Phillips 66's 293,532 b/d Sweeny refinery in West Texas on Wednesday reported an operational upset at a hydrotreater, the company said in a filing Thursday with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
According to the filing, the upset triggered an emission event that lasted for about 40 minutes. A coker flare was also listed as one of the affected units. Refinery crews worked to stabilize the units to return to normal operating conditions, Phillips said in the filing.
In addition, Pemex's 340,000 b/d Deer Park refinery on the Houston Ship Channel informed the TCEQ that a gas compressor tripped on Tuesday, causing a coker flaring event that lasted for about four hours.
Crews stabilized the unit and restarted the compressor, the company told the agency.
