1237 GMT - A higher-than-expected compensation payout takes the edge off the disappointment caused by Kroger's decision to scale back a tie-up with U.K. business Ocado, AJ Bell's Russ Mould writes. Kroger will pay Ocado $350 million--higher than the $250 million Ocado previously guided--to compensate the grocery-logistics business for the closure of three customer-fulfillment centers, and for scrapping plans of a further unopened site. "An enhanced compensation payment does at least take the edge off Kroger's reduced use of Ocado's technology, as does Ocado's reiteration of guidance for a break into positive cash flow next year," Mould writes. Shares are up 3.5% at 190.75 pence, but are down 37% over the year to date. (josephmichael.stonor@wsj.com)
