Watahan & Co's November Total Sales Down 1.8% Year on Year

MT Newswires Live12-10

Watahan & Co (TYO:3199) saw a 1.8% year-on-year decline in total sales for November, as lower customer traffic more than offset a higher average customer spending.

Average spending per customer rose 2%, but store traffic fell 3.7%, according to a Wednesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Existing store sales also fell 1.8% in November, with customer numbers down 4% and average spend up 2.2%.

Despite strong November sales in gourmet food, fresh fish, and e-commerce driven by aggressive promotions, the declining sales was primarily attributed to reduced demand for crime prevention products.
