Shares of Core & Main climbed as the water- and fire-protection-products company posted higher fiscal third-quarter sales despite soft residential demand.
Shares rose 3% to $52.01, and are up 1% year to date.
The St. Louis company on Tuesday reported a third-quarter profit of $137 million, or 72 cents a share, compared with $133 million, or 69 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier.
Adjusted earnings were 89 cents a share, above analysts' estimates of 73 cents a share, according to FactSet.
Revenue rose 1.2% to $2.06 billion, meeting analyst expectations.
The company said sales for storm-drainage products gained from acquisitions, and that fire-protection and meter-product sales rose on higher average selling prices and higher volumes, respectively.
The company reaffirmed its full-year 2025 outlook and still expects adjusted Ebitda--or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization--of $920 million to $940 million and sales of $7.6 billion to $7.7 billion.
