BAT's New-Category Revenue Is Positive, But Not Meaningful Yet -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-09

0942 GMT - British American Tobacco's progress in the new-category revenue is showing some positive signs, but it still hasn't meaningfully contributed to profits, Interactive Investor's Richard Hunter says in a note. Its launch of Velo Plus in the U.S. could largely contribute to the region returning to revenue and profit growth, Hunter writes. BAT's new-category segment includes products such as Vuse electronic cigarette range and Velo nicotine pouches. While the replacement of traditional combustible products has been under development for years, it still hasn't moved the needle substantially on profits, he says. Shares are down 3.85% at 4,153 pence. (aimee.look@wsj.com)
