Fed Officials Use Dot Plot to Signal Dissent -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-11

1405 ET - Six Fed officials, of the 19 members of the FOMC, used the Fed's final dot plot of 2025 to signal quietly they would have preferred to keep interest rates unchanged at this meeting. Those six officials penciled in a preferred year-end interest rate target of about 3.8%, a sign that they harbored some objections to the Fed's decision to bring rates lower today. Two voting members of the FOMC lodged official dissents against a rate cut: Austan Goolsbee of the Chicago Fed and Jeffrey Schmid of the Kansas City Fed. (matt.grossman@wsj.com; @mattgrossman)
