Altria Group said Chief Executive Billy Gifford will retire in May and named its current chief financial officer, Sal Mancuso, as Gifford's replacement.

Gifford, who has been CEO since 2020, will serve as a consultant to Altria following his retirement through at least the end of 2026, the Richmond, Va., tobacco company said Thursday.

Heather Newman, the company's chief strategy and growth officer since March 2022, will become the company's new CFO.

Mancuso has served as CFO since 2020.
