China Telecom (HKG:0728, SHA:601728) will partner with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications, or du, to enhance telecommunications developments in the United Arab Emirates.

The two telcos will collaborate across areas such as AI-powered advanced video services, Internet-of-Things-powered car connectivity, autonomous networks, voice and roaming services, and travel eSIMs, du CEO Fahad Al Hassawi said in a Thursday press release.

The partnership will help the UAE market with its "smart city ambitions," China Telecom Africa and Middle East General Manager Dong Ziyu said.

Shares in China Telecom gained 1% in Hong Kong but fell 2% in Shanghai during Friday morning trading.
