Singapore Telecommunications (SGX:Z74) was imposed a fine of SG$1 million by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore in connection with a voice disruption that occurred on Oct. 8, 2024, according to a media release on Thursday.
Shares of the telecommunications services provider were up nearly 2% in Friday trading.
The incident affected around 500,000 residential and corporate users for over four hours, including health services, banks and emergency call services, the release stated.
The company said it has since taken preventive measures to remedy the situation, including the implementation of a separate hardware for its voice system and monitoring system.
