Fertilizer Shares Rise Following Report of Ukrainian Attack on Russian Plants

Shares of fertilizer companies Nutrien (NTR), Mosaic (MOS), and Intrepid Potash (IPI) were advancing in recent Thursday trading, following a report of Ukrainian strikes on Russian fertilizer facilities.

The Moscow Times reported the attack on Thursday, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense. The newspaper said Russian air defense alert systems shot down 287 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight.

Targets included two fertilizer plants and The Moscow Times said eyewitness footage showed that the drone attack led to a fire at the Acron mineral fertilizer plant, though it was not confirmed that the plant was directly hit by a drone.

Shares of Nutrien were up more than 4%, Mosaic stock advanced by more than 8%, and Intrepid Potash shares rose past 6% in recent trading.
