MT Newswires Live2025-12-11

Westpac Banking (ASX:WBC, NZE:WBC) received a warning from emergency leaders and shareholders about allegedly breaching its commitments to the Paris agreement as it continues to provide funding to companies expanding fossil fuels, per a Thursday statement from Market Forces.

More than 100 shareholders have filed a resolution at the bank's annual general meeting asking it to prove that its financing meets global climate goals, the environmental group said.

The bank did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of the bank gained about 1% in recent Thursday trade in Australia.
