Barclays (BCS) has taken a stake in United Fintech, becoming the fifth global bank investor and securing a seat on the firm's board, United Fintech said Wednesday.

Financial details of the investment were not disclosed.

The new investment adds to backing from BNP Paribas, Citi (C), Danske Bank, and Standard Chartered, all of which have invested in the past two years, the company said.

United Fintech completed two acquisitions this year, bringing its portfolio to seven fintech firms and expanding to 11 offices with more than 200 employees, it said.

Barclays shares were up more than 1% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
