GE Expects Approval for First U.S. Nuclear Project in 2026 -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-11

1128 ET - GE Vernova expects approval to launch its first U.S. nuclear project in 2026 as it works with the Trump administration to build domestic nuclear power capacity, Chief Executive Officer Scott Strazik says in an interview on CNBC. He says the energy company is working with Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on nuclear issues. "We do expect we'll build new nuclear in the U.S.," Strazik says. "I would expect us to get approval for commissioning of our first project in the U.S. next year. So this is happening." But the economics of gas still beat nuclear, Strazik says: "Gas is going to be the lion's share of the incremental capacity." (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
