Hong Kong SME Sentiment Weakens in November

Business sentiment among Hong Kong's small and medium-sized enterprises weakened in November.

The current diffusion index on business receipts amongst SMEs slipped to 44.5 in November from 44.8 in October, data released by the city's Census and Statistics Department on Tuesday showed.

The outlook index for December stood at 47.5. Readings above 50 indicate expansion, while those below signal contraction.

The stronger outlook points to expectations of firmer business conditions in the final month of 2025, even as sentiment remains below the neutral 50 threshold.

A government spokesman said SME sentiment was "broadly stable" in November after visible improvements in recent months. Further growth in Hong Kong's economy should support sentiment, though external uncertainties remain a risk, the spokesman added.
