Stellantis' Jeep Recall Under Review After Post-Remedy Rear Coil Spring Detachments

Stellantis' (STLA) Jeep Grand Cherokee recall in 2023 is under review by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration following reports of post-recall rear coil spring detachments, the regulator said.

Stellantis subsidiary Fiat Chrysler Automobiles implemented the recall in June 2023, affecting 331,401 units of 2021-2023 models, to repair rear coil springs that may not have been properly installed, according to the NHTSA.

The regulator said it received 20 complaints claiming rear coil spring detachments after the recall, prompting the Office of Defects Investigation to launch a review Thursday.

The review will look into complaint data, field reports, and the company's technical analysis to determine whether further action is required, according to the NHTSA.

Stellantis did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
