Communications Services Flat as Traders Pare Back Deal Bets -- Communications Services Roundup

Dow Jones12-16

Communications-services companies were more or less flat, as traders pared back bets on deal activity.

Warner Bros. Discovery shares slipped as Paramount Skydance continued to push a competing bid to its Hollywood rival's merger deal with Netflix.

Versant Media Group, the cable networks spinoff from Comcast, debuted at a price that values the company's equity at about $6.5 billion.

Shares of Comcast rose by more than 3%.

Versant's valuation could figure in the Warner-Netflix saga because the owner of channels such as MS Now and CNBC has a comparable business to Warner's cable unit.

Shares of Juventus Football Club, one of Europe's most storied soccer teams, jumped early Monday after cryptocurrency giant Tether offered to buy the club from Italy's Agnelli family, which rejected the bid.
