Financial stocks were rising pre-bell Monday, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) advancing by 0.6%.
The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 1.9% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 1.7% lower.
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is close to acquiring a minority stake in India's Shriram Finance, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the discussions. Shares of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group were up more than 2% premarket.
Prudential (PUK) stock was up more than 2% after the company said it will launch a share repurchase program of about 2.2 million ordinary shares for 0.05 British pounds ($0.067) per share to reduce its issued share capital.
Lloyds Banking Group (LYG) said it has appointed Amanda Murphy as chief executive officer of its Business and Commercial Banking business unit, effective February 2026. Lloyds Banking Group shares were up more than 1% premarket.
