US Stocks Mixed; NY Manufacturing Activity Dips In December

U.S. stocks traded mixed this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 0.1% on Monday.

Following the market opening Monday, the Dow traded up 0.09% to 48,502.84 while the NASDAQ fell 0.03% to 23,187.60. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.13% to 6,836.56.

Leading and Lagging SectorsHealth care shares jumped by 1% on Monday.

In trading on Monday, energy stocks fell by 1%.

Top Headline

The NY Empire State Manufacturing Index fell to -3.9 in December, compared to a one-year high level of 18.7 in the previous month, and missing market estimates of 10.

Equities Trading UP           

  • 3 E Network Technology Group Ltd (NASDAQ:MASK) shares shot up 88% to $0.57 after the company signed a master services agreement to develop an AI data center in Finland.
  • Shares of AlphaVest Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:AMCI) got a boost, surging 31% to $10.30.
  • Artiva Biotherapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ARTV) shares were also up, gaining 32% to $4.34 after the company reported positive initial safety and translational data supporting deep B-Cell depletion with AlloNK® in autoimmune disease.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • iRobot Corp (NASDAQ:IRBT) shares dropped 69% to $1.36 after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
  • Shares of CCH Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:CCHH) were down 68% to $0.85.
  • Momentus Inc (NASDAQ:MNTS) was down, falling 36% to $0.54 after the company announced a 1-for-17.85 reverse split.

CommoditiesIn commodity news, oil traded down 0.6% to $57.08 while gold traded up 0.9% at $4,366.60.

Silver traded up 3% to $63.850 on Monday, while copper rose 1.9% to $5.4595.

Euro zone

European shares were higher today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 gained 0.8%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 1%. London's FTSE 100 jumped 1%, Germany's DAX 40 rose 0.4% and France's CAC 40 gained 1.1% during the session.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Monday, with Japan's Nikkei falling 1.31%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng dipping 1.34%, China's Shanghai Composite declining 0.55% and India's BSE Sensex falling 0.06%.
