With revenue growth that's superior to most other companies of late, Yuexiu Property has been doing relatively well.   It might be that many expect the strong revenue performance to degrade substantially, which has repressed the share price, and thus the P/S ratio.  If not, then existing shareholders have reason to be quite optimistic about the future direction of the share price. Yuexiu Property's P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.   If we review the last year of revenue growth, the company posted a terrific increase of 18%.   The strong recent performance means it was also able to grow revenue by 53% in total over the last three years.  Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been superb for the company.     Looking ahead now, revenue is anticipated to slump, contracting by 12% during the coming year according to the analysts following the company.  Meanwhile, the broader industry is forecast to expand by 5.6%, which paints a poor picture.  With this information, we are not surprised that Yuexiu Property is trading at a P/S lower than the industry.  Nonetheless, there's no guarantee the P/S has reached a floor yet with revenue going in reverse.  Even just maintaining these prices could be difficult to achieve as the weak outlook is weighing down the shares.    What We Can Learn From Yuexiu Property's P/S?  Generally, our preference is to limit the use of the price-to-sales ratio to establishing what the market thinks about the overall health of a company.  It's clear to see that Yuexiu Property maintains its low P/S on the weakness of its forecast for sliding revenue, as expected.  At this stage investors feel the potential for an improvement in revenue isn't great enough to justify a higher P/S ratio.  Unless these conditions improve, they will continue to form a barrier for the share price around these levels.
