Shell (SHEL) subsidiary Shell Offshore said Tuesday it will inject water to displace additional oil in the reservoir formation at its Kaikias field, in offshore US 'Gulf of America,' which supplies production to Shell's Ursa platform in the Mars Corridor, beginning in 2028, the company said.

Financial terms of the waterflood project weren't disclosed.

With the first injection set for 2028, Shell said it expects the project to extend the production lifecycle of Ursa by several years.
