Coursera (COUR) and Udemy's (UDMY) proposed merger creates a unique value proposition and platform offering, RBC Capital Markets said.

The brokerage said in a Wednesday note that the combined entity could deliver $1.7 billion of revenue and $283 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization in calendar year 2027 assuming the deal closes halfway through calendar Q3 2026.

RBC said shares of both Coursera and Udemy have remained under pressure as investors contemplate what the artificial intelligence era means for the future of the educational technology sector. The investment firm added that the industry is likely to see continued consolidation.

The firm has an outperform rating on Coursera with a $13 price target.

Shares of Coursera were up more than 3%, while Udemy added nearly 4% in recent Thursday trading.
